Yoshi’s Corner Tournament?

So I was thinking its been a while since our last tourney, and my bragging rights for the last Bomberman one are soon to expire. Also they’re really fun.

What I was going to suggest here is that we have another one, but I don’t know what game we should be playing exactly. To the best of my memory we’ve already played Mario Kart, Tetris Attack, Bomberman and Street Fighter so really we’d be looking at something new, and maybe something that not many people have played because honestly wheres the fun in picking something you’re excellent at. (Note: I didn’t pick Bomberman.) Of course that might not be possible, but I’m sure theres a load of multiplayer games that would be perfect for tourneying up. Also if nothing else comes up I can’t see a problem with repeating one of these.

Ideally we’d be sticking to SNES (ROMS most likely, unless you can tell me how to network play a Vanilla SNES over the intertubes.) or DS, probably SNES because if you know where to look and who to ask it’ll be easy to get sorted. That and computers that are more powerful than a wristwatch will run SNES games comfortably. Of course, no discussion of where to find ROMS is allowed here so you’ll have to look for the requisite gear yourself. Also I’ll laugh at you and delete your comments. Heck, even if theres any decent multiplayer games on NES (and an emulator with netplay) we could make a go of that.

In my infinite wisdom I forgot to bring any game ideas so I’ll be relying on you people to come up with the goods. Also, post here only if you’re interested in playing and will be able to play all your matches without vanishing from the internet. Of course, if you have an honest to good good reason for not being able to play, fair game to you. If you don’t play because you can’t be bothered, well enjoy not being part of any more tourneys. I know there were problems in the last tournaments with people not even turning up, and that just made it bad for everyone. Theres no fun in organising a tournament where half the competitors don’t show up, as I’m sure Strangie over at YC will tell you about.

So. Ideas?

BREAKING NEWS 

Somebody over in #yc had had the delicious idea that instead the only
players being from YC and YC only, we get multiple communities and boards involved in this, Like Yoshi Lore, TYFN, and any others I can’t remember right now. Frankly this sounds like an awesome idea and a huge tourney should prove pretty fun for all involved. Of course, post here if you want to give this a shot.
